Review of the Year (and a Few Predictions)

Good old 2022.
Bonkers 'news' kept us up to date with plenty of anniversary stories. As biased as a drunken boxer with scarred hands, and as diverse as a van full of licorice all sorts, the rickerty stage rolled on. A hundred years of broadcasting was celebrated with flickering film of an early radio studio, while the couch full of dollar millionaire newsreaders duly smirked with patronising superiority.
The next feature was then preceded by a technological balls up of flickering images not dissimilar to those a century before.
Superior smirks then curdled...
We now have more vacations, bank holidays, sick days, training days, special leaves, part time weeks and early retirements than work days, with around 17 million full time workers effectively supporting the remaining 53 million souls. Bonfire night has been extended to five nights, particularly popular with strange rat like blokes with no families. A notorious group of fans are often seen jumping up and down when their large rocket finally takes off. These people are known as NASA scientists.
The most recent breakthrough occurred when the NASA rocket was tied to a big stick and inserted in a bottle. Museums and auction houses are presumably desperate for more moon rock.
In 2022 more records were broken than ever before (a new record). The weather forecasters alone now have more records than all the Radio One DJs combined. Elsewhere, there are more world cups, international events and championships than there are days in the year. Soon participants will outnumber spectators, and fresh reserves of gold will be required for the ubiquitously distributed medals.
From 2023, authors will outnumber readers, and political party leaders will be 'followers', as they simply outbid each other in the vote buying marketplace. Every citizen will have a social media page, but only trolls will read them. We may well spend more time with viral infections, than without them......
Happy New Year!
