The Curse of Eternal life

I will trim the wick and light another
candle for the one who passed
leaving me to mourn the endless
fear of emptiness which follows me
hand-in-hand with the weight of loss.
Yearning for love turned my heart
to a hollow shell centuries ago but
the bitter taste of watching wives
and children die lingers on my tongue.
Their lives burning bright only to fade
before ancient eyes now void of tears.
Hope is all I carry within my empty
bag of memories. Another new start
with a partner whom I pray will be the
last, and God grants me the gift of death.

Evidence of living life fully
I have found that the pain is the only evidence that I have loved. The deeper the pain, the deeper the love. Everything comes at a cost, and love is the most valuable thing in the world. I hope the memories will move to become the treasures of diamonds and smiles in your heart, like coal does its journey to become a diamond.
