Broken Valentine

Crows roost now
in our somewhere only we know.
Cawing they laugh, like you,
at a heart in tatters, lying
upon cold stone
where snowdrops wilt.
They peck now
at frayed memories unravelling.
Their eyes, like yours,
full of lust and greed, finally sated
discard the remains
amongst threadbare hopes.
They chase now
after new dreams and desires.
Destroying, like you, all in
their path
And love? And forever?
Is gone.
Crows roost now
in our somewhere only we know.
Somewhere only I knew.
For you were never really there
And I?
I am just a story.

Edith, one question for you.
Edith, one question for you. Are you preparing us for Valentine's Day?
Like it!

we're all crows and endlessly
we're all crows and endlessly crowing about something.

I saw a pair of crows billing
I saw a pair of crows billing and cooing in a skeleton tree the other morning, and a pair of magpies making a nest, your poem made me think of this.
