Reminiscing

Running reckless
Buckled shoes
A smile that never ends
And a contagious laugh
In slow motion tranquility
Curly hair
Auburn coloured sun reflections
Missing teeth
But a spare quid in the pocket
By the fairy
That made us believe magic was real
With Harry Potter as your best friend
A bedtime
Just before watching your favourite programme
And a journal
As you practice writing
But blank confusion at grained paper
Night lights
Of stars on the ceiling
Lost in a fantasy of earth
Floating along a galaxy
Completely alone
You're not lost
But you are young
With your head in the clouds
Red and white pinafore dress
White socks
With burgundy ridges
And light absorbing shoes
With the strap that caught on anything with a wool material
Naivety and mindlessness
Running on grass
Walking on concrete
Swimming in the sea
Skipping on sand
Burning on pavements
Etched smiles
Contagious to anyone who sees
Spreading happiness like wildfire
In a community of people who are family
Summer holidays
With the good ole' British sunshine
And an ice cream with a flake
Whistling along to the song that plays
A little bit too loud
Hand in hand
Swinging back and forth
Tightened grips
And sweaty palms
Scuffed shoes
Muddy knees
Ice-cream splattered mouth nose and cheeks
It's a tale of old shoes
And soles of your feet
I've got blisters from running
On beaches and streets
In the absence of sound
Will you sing back to me?
Would you whisper the thoughts
And tell me to dream?
