Elsie I love my three-foot anapaest
She is my hairy mate
She's not a pest, she is the best
Anapaest I shall dance, I shall prance
Take a chance, go to France
Elsie It's hard to be a zookeeper
They all get out and gad about
And in the High Street too!
Anapaest Out of school, I'm so cool
Not a fool, paestie rules
The Poetry Police: Go home the pair of yer, yer having a laugh
Ana vanishes back into Elsies' insomnia
Elsie finds her own way home muttering wildly about the amphibrach and the giraffe and the neck of them.
(inspired by Bees' poetic poem 'I don't like poetry') Anapaestic poetry is where there are three beats to the bar and the stress is on the third one; try drumming it. One famous seasonal example;
