Hymn on the 23rd Hour
By EpheLuwe
- 726 reads
A friend is a friend, is a friend
Who, when brought to bear upon
Does not confuse those obscure
Answers somewhere between yes
And no, a friend knows when you need him most.
And a love's a spare shoulder to lay
One's head on and talk for a while
To listen and hold as, amongst us
The globe spins along and along
A friend greater, to trust upon.
Yet still a God does not sit down, nor lay
Nor sleep, nor shiver, nor fear
Yes a God's fit to listen each hour
And watch over when it becomes night
A friend not abandoned by flight
So by these three may ye blessed
Just as the spring flow'r is blessed by the winds -
Come from North, come from West, come from East,
& the seeds you expel bring them Peace.
