and the slipperier ones queue up to say.

Dave hails David as a boyhood hero,
and how can that be?
The grinning liar Tony does the same,
sons of privilege both,
they speak a working class hero's name
- a killing, chilling joke.
Major Tim is not Tom,
although we hope something isn't wrong,
life just isn't Aladdin's song.
The Jones Boy is gone,
died as he lived,
obscured by mirrors and smoke
the last persona – a New York bloke.
Goodbye Zig the Wonder Kid,
and all the other things you did.
How you'd have laughed
-yeah, bust your zips-
to hear your name
on politicos' lips.
