Fistulous Withers, a puritan soul,
drank at the local watering hole.
None protested when he brought his horse,
since he paid for everyone’s drinks of course.
They said he’d been a professional fool,
or a sometime bursar at a boarding school.
Between his shoulders was a gibbous hump,
and under his trouser was a hideous stump.
One fine day, he simply vanished,
had he left? Or was he banished?
His horse remained, the wall-eyed roan,
as standing surety for an unpaid loan.
