Friday On My Mind

Today I intend to:

walk under one ladder,

cross two black cats’ paths,

pick only three-leafed clover,

step on four pavement cracks,

whistle in five – FIVE – theatres showing Macbeth,

throw six double sixes whilst playing Sugoruku in Hokkaido,

and seven snake-eyes in a crap-shoot in Vegas,

threaten to move to a house numbered eight

and order number nine on the sushi menu next door,

drink ten pints of Tennents on an emptied stomach,

pull one leg off each of eleven spiders,

order a cake from a dozen bakers,

or maybe I’ll just stay at home - counting thirteen chimes.
