The King of Cards

The king is somewhat overfed

We take him for a fool.

The King amongst the cabbage heads

is surely someone’s tool?

 

But in his polished looking glass,

he sees the best of men,

beside him the Queen of Slovenia

until he marries again.

invulnerable

though he

cannot

say

it.

 

 

If      there

be    a    dragon

the King is

bound to

slay

it

 

 

A

King

must be

no cabbage and

quite the best

of

men.

 

 

He

speaks

words

full                        in

of wis-dumb              messages

In our war against this King

our spies are butterflies,

how he'll rage at their disguise

when their offspring start to eat.

 

The King is not a tyrant;

the cabbage heads can vote,

whatever threat the centipede,

their fear should be the goat.
