The List

The list is long,

of things undone,

the un-had fun

- the undoable.

If I could, I would...

Be the singer in a group,

a tribute band for the Undertones.

See a cover on my book,

in paper, Dewey-ed up for libraries.

Go to Thailand on a boat,

East-sailing, chase the blue horizon.

Kiss a woman on the moon,

or planets far: beyond Betelgeuse.

Tell that person in the class,

the bullied boy for the older lads

“be a rebel, in their face,

the bravest boy in boarding school”.

If I could, I would.

The list is long,

longer than life,

the un-lived

and the liveable…

grow ever shorter.
