It's not like they said,
not like the 50's grow-fin, car-boat designs;
no fins and metal zeppelins
or phallic rocketry.
Ideas as old as bobby pins.
It's not too dangerous,
not on Diffusion Kites* riding solar winds:
flotsam, jetsam, - for high-tech cargo cults-
float down-feathered to the bay.
Ride to Andromeda on catapults;
it takes four new Obols;
about the take-home of a crying android.
Ray-guns are for painting,
or freezing crystals
to stop proteinium tainting.
And no running blades,
no Great Empire, no Federation, no spice,
no oil, no nukes, no planet-ism,
or pointless government,
just simple Air-Age optimism.
