The Hullen Edge Birdsong Band
sing the soundtrack
from still bare oak and sycamore.
Eponymous holly stays viridian,
trimming drystone walls like dull tinsel.
Squirrels scurry from hoard to hoard,
watched by a black cat -
with interest or out of boredom.
Wind blows litter, urban tumbleweed
spoiling the composition.
The actors retake their marks
and the next shot is framed
by nature's second unit director
ready for springtime's Mr De Mille
as the day's camera rolls.
Footnote: "hullen" is an old Yorkshire word for holly

Clever observation and words woven to herald Spring. Thank you, Ewan, most enjoyable! Congratulations on the cherries, too. :-)
