Radiant

Like a radiant

what have i done to the sun?
i made it uneasy with my gaze
i denied its shadowing phase
and shut my eyes to it
once too often

and took its warmth greedily
let its circles of heat dry my skin
drank its kisses in ungratefully
kisses that fell between trees
and buildings

switched it on like a radio
in a car heading south
shaded my eyes so the sun couldn't see me
or see how much it means to me

i made the sun go down at night
and held silken streams of its hair
in my hands and lips
as i danced at night

then
the sun lay with me
laid its fingers on my shoulder
because i wanted everything
