Vivienne… the first 50

A long time ago, in a land far away…. well…Barnsley to be fair

A lovely little girl was born…. with blue eyes and blonde hair

 

She had a happy childhood…. with her Brother, Mum and Dad

And friends Deborah and Judith.... oh what fun they had!

 

She went to Barnsley High School…. where boys were not allowed

And then went on to Uni…. and made her parents proud

 

She learned to drive and flew the nest…. when she was very young

Then joined the civil service…. and lived in Birmingham

 

She moved back up to Sheffield…. and one drunken Friday night

Saw Andrew dance in Josephine’s…. and it was love at first sight

 

Andrew’s fancy dance moves.... didn’t make her run away

Cos’ they married two years later…. and they’re still married today

 

Her life is full of ”F” words…. that’s Family, Friends and Fun

And don’t forget there’s Football…. we can’t forget that one

 

She used to watch (dirty) Leeds…. with her Brother and her Dad

But her heart belongs to Barnsley…. yes ... it’s very sad!

 

There is a month, she can’t forget…. that’s May of ninety-seven

The reds went up, and Ellie was born…. she thought she was in heaven

 

Now Vivienne dotes on Ellie…. she gives her all she can

Her only disappointment is…. that she’s a Wednesday fan!!

 

When Ellie said “where’s mummy?”…. on her birthday... she was three

Her daddy said “she isn’t here…. she’s gone to Wem-ber-lee”

 

She’d gone to see the super reds…. beat Ipswich and go up

But thanks to Barnard’s poor spot kick…. the reds were out of luck

 

She’s been to lots of concerts…. she’s nearly seen them all

In local clubs and stadiums…. and in Barnsley Civic Hall

 

And now if they’re still touring…. she always tries to go

From Springsteen, Prince and Ultravox…. to the Stawbs and Status Quo

 

When she’s out with Janice.... or the mums from Crookes

They’ll have a drink; they’ll have a dance.... and get some funny looks

 

But with Vivienne they enjoy themselves.... they’ll all be glad they came

And when she gets to 60.... let’s hope she’s still the same!

We only hope when we’re your age…. we look as good as you.
