Colour Of Sound

Kandinsky painted music.
He had a medical condition : SAW
the notes as he heard them,
the same every time,
in a box before his eyes
he echoed in canvas;
wrote a treatise
on which colours were which sounds.
But I am not so sure:
I used to love carols at Christmas.
This year and last I hear them
and become blue -
reminded of before
I learned to cope
with you not being here
and even when they stop
you follow me into the silence;
I hear your breath
in empty rooms.
