A Once Lived in Home

Dust and paper-thin paint,

peeling

ink and wood.

A tear,

a crease

and a half-meant smile

of a portrait

left hanging on an empty wall.

rusted nails and string

do little, save

sway with the heavy wind,

that bellows

warm air
