Jennifer Jane had already made up her mind about finding the strange dragon. It should be quite simple really, just go to the wishing clearing in the wood and wish for a path that would lead her to him. In fact it turned out to be even easier. As she came out of the trees she saw a strange grey dragon asleep in the middle of the clearing itself.
"Excuse me," she shouted as loudly as she could.
The grey dragon opened one eye lazily and then leaped to his feet.
"WHO DARES DISTURB THE REST OF DEKRON THE DESTROYER?”
"My name is Jennifer Jane and I would like a chat..."
"LIKE A CHAT WOULD YOU, YOU LITTLE...ER DID YOU SAY YOUR NAME WAS JENNIFER JANE?”
"That's right"
"The same Jennifer Jane who forced Tornak the Terrible to eat coal and then killed Lurgin the Troll?"
"Well yes I suppose so, although it wasn't really quite like that."
"How can I help you miss?" asked the strange dragon in a perfectly ordinary dragon voice.
"The witches have asked me to come and see you. Did you know that you've come through a Gate into another world?"
"Is that what happened," said Dekron the Destroyer, who didn't seem to be all that well, now that Jennifer Jane was beginning to get used to him.
"I can't stand eating coal, it makes me sick, so a few weeks after Tornak the Terrible had made me promise to eat nothing else, my flame went out. I went to visit my uncle Karg to see if he knew of an alternative but he wasn't feeling very well either, so I went up the hill to see if the witch could help me. There was no one at home so I went looking for her and as I walked out of the back door it happened."
Jennifer Jane was listening intently, the dragon seemed quite well behaved and harmless, now that he believed she was a powerful witch. "What happened next?" she asked.
"I was just wandering around quietly minding my own business looking for the witch, when I heard the most fantastic roar I've ever heard in my life. A huge dragon flew over the tops of the trees near the castle and disappeared in seconds. I don't mind telling you I was scared stiff. I flew off in the opposite direction as fast as I could, looking for somewhere to hide. Eventually I spotted a dark cloud on the horizon, flew into it and landed here and here I've stayed ever since. I can't fly away because this clearing is too small for a take off run and I can't walk away because the paths are too narrow for me. Perhaps you can help me?"
Jennifer Jane thought for a moment.
"The witches want you to go back to your own world."
"Can't," said Dekron, "there's nothing to eat now that I'm not allowed a peasant or two any more."
"H'm, awkward," said Jennifer Jane thoughtfully, "I think I'll have to go and see one of my dragon friends. If I show you how to get there do you think you could carry me on your back?"
"Easy," said Dekron" but how do I get out of here?"
