Flying Orb

I first saw it as it shot into the air.
Spinning over and over, a disc became sphere, a bauble for a moment like a globe of silver light.
Our eyes transfixed for what seemed like eternity, on that rising silver ball in flight.
Our breaths suspended while it travelled on skywards, daring not to inhale for fear of changing it's course.
Time slowed further as did that bright globe, upon reaching the apex of the arc it described.
Then it changed it's course and hurtled to earth, still a perfect ball but nearing the end.
It crashed to the earth and bounced into a new arc, much smaller this time and closer to the ground.
We both stood motionless, mouths agape, watching as it skidded and bounced and spun to a stop.
We both over ran to where the disc had crash landed, then in unison we looked down at it and I exclaimed....
