BLACK IN LONDON
(“Everyone wants to be rapper” Soweto Kinch)
I seem to notice black people. Don’t know why.
It’s like I’m looking for them all the time. Train, shop, everywhere.
Why?
I’m not staring, but I acknowledge you before you actually notice me. Are you African? From the Islands?
Do I feel intimidated?
Don’t know.
Maybe.
We intimidate each other for no apparent reason.
It’s inbred.
Black on black violence.
WHITE IN ZIMBABWE
(“Zombie” Cranberries)
I seem to notice white people. Don’t know why.
I see you in your cars, shops, walking, everywhere.
Why?
I’m not trying to figure out anything; I just notice you.
