ANOTHER PAGE FROM MY DIARY
August 6, 2002, Tuesday.
The bright morning sun peeped into my bedroom through the open window,
flooding the room with bright sunlight and its warmth. Opened my eyes,
got up, left my bed by offering prayers to God.
Started off to get into my regular routine.
Having tucked away all my engagements carefully and properly, I
pondered over to simplify my thoughts.
I sometimes felt that if I could get a platform in the political arena,
I could fulfil my wish of serving the people. This thought is in my
mind because a heated atmosphere is prevailing over the political scene
of this State.
The State of Orissa is facing severe drought. But the elected members
to the Legislative Assembly are more concerned with their ministerial
berths and port folios rather than trying to find out a solution to
such a grave and grim situation.
The disgruntlement is over the working of the Chief Minister Naveen
Patnaik. But this man was pushed into politics only after the death of
his father Biju Babu. When he sat on that chair he had little knowledge
of politics. People here mocked him for his ignorance of the regional
language and they thought him to be a novice. No doubt he was new to
politics, but he was a very literate person, very well read and himself
a writer and a man of wisdom. He overcame his shortcomings very soon
with the help of his able officers. He stepped into his father's
shoes.
Instead of thinking of the people these political people are pulling
each other.
I feel that if you need people's help during the elections then see to
their benefits and not your profits. In the long run you may loose the
game.
After writing all this I feel politics is not my cup of tea.
My students came for their classes in the evening.
Completed the short story that I was writing.
Had prepared a very good lunch. Everyone enjoyed it.
Watched some T.V. programmes.
At late night went to the net.
I am fully tired and exhausted and going to bed.
I thank you God for having given me this wonderful day.
