I stood still and stared
Then came the lies and the flannel
And still I stood and stared
Transfixed, bemused, overwhelmed, confused
Still I stood there and stared
“Power I won’t mention, you’ll never hear me say"
“Give me the power and I’ll have all my way”
“I’ll tell you things, promises you might say”
“And I’ll do what’s best for me and my buddy of the day”
We vote them in and hope for the best and that is just the way
We live our lives the best we can, the way, they say we may.
