Drowned

She was discovered in blazing sunlight
Broken bones and flesh torn on the rocks
Her skin a faded opal lustre
Beautiful, photogenic in her death pose
Her pale hair, bleached seaweed tendrils
Fanned out across the boulders
Missing shoe now miles away
Lost with the pull of faraway lands
Pulse evaporated
Heart now beating rhythmically in the waves
Excited onlookers debated
This nameless creature
They tried to shield their eyes
From the small silver crucifix glistening between her chest
Jesus drowned in flesh
Crimson coloured lips slowly fading (Slowly draining)
Matching scarlet painted toenails
A death bed of roses
