I saw her in a room without windows
whispering smoke into an ashtray
three glasses smeared with bloody lipstick
empty near her elbow
Waiting for someone with no name
She wore market stall satin
shining temporarily before the wash
perfect fitting on the shoulders
pulled tight and faded
against the life absorbing midriff
In rectangles I saw her
my eyes pulled near closed
I waited near the cubicles
duplicated in mirrors
At last she came
In waves of poison I drowned
