Not Responding

Even the birds in the bare Winter branches sing,
In the empty church I hear a single church bell ring,
And look to you, for something
But your're not responding...
A fool would fight against forever marching Time,
But a book we both once read, to hear you read aloud
a line,
A sign; anything.
But you're not responding...
A weak connection barely made,
An old game in a tattered box that's never played
A layer of ice forms; thickening
And you're not responding...
Wait? I'v been waiting,
So long that my love has turned to hating
Even the shadow of your former self
Has upped and left you lying upon this shelf
You used to fly like a bird upon the wing
A dried up river bed in the quiet South
Never a single word comes flowing from your mouth
Is there something in the dry earth still glittering?
But you're not responding...
