The Old Station Clock

Beneath this station clock
Is where I let her go
I thought she'd seen it coming
But oh the tears they flowed
She turned away her breaking heart
And it laid me low
Beneath this station clock
Is where I let her go
Beneath this same station clock
Another said farewell to me
And it was I who turned away
So my tears she couldn't see
And the irony wasn't lost on thee
Beneath this same station clock
She said farewell to me
Beneath the station clock
A third girl I first met
Who mended my broken heart
With hers in one was set
And though she's loved and missed
I still see her yet
Beneath the station clock
Where we first met
Beneath the station clock
Now alone I stand
Thinking of the heart I broke, that broke mine
And the one who took me by the hand
And time it marches on
Through fumbled fingers sand
But beneath the station clock
Still and alone I stand
And the only one
Who knows my joys and pains
Stands indifferent in its tower and over this world reigns
Over arriving and departing hearts and hands
And trains
The only one who knows my joys and pains
