Shadow and Light

"I love you but it's not to be,"
A fair Maiden whispers to her Knight,
A silver arrow into the dark
There is shadow and light
Some men pray to something higher
To ease them from their plight
But the only thing I ever put my faith in
Was shadow and light
In a forgotten book from long ago
Some ancient hand did write
From the beginning to the end
Let there be shadow and light
I've wrestled with my conscience
Between what is wrong and what is right
And inside me armies marching
And there is shadow and light
The bad blood that ties me
The rope I walk is tight
There's nothing there to catch me
Aside from this shadow and light
The moments washed up in the dark
Like stars they burn so bright
I offer up a blessing
To the shadow and light
If there's nothing left here for me
Then I guess I will take flight
But I know I've left a trail for you
In the shadow and light
