The rock.

The fear returns - is it fear?
A firm grip round the heart,
that at least it has,
if fear can own.
A heart of steel that feels,
is - is - is - the agony is
too much to bear, an iron
cage. Was I its maker?
I took the step but was it
my choice? The Me, the who?
Themes of person I'm paddling through.
I rock back and forth
Forth and back again
the pangs of indecision
Only the pangs, no birth.
I rock in a cradle where she
rocked me, when she grows
old and stooped and grey
I'll rock her rocking chair,
She who saved me.
Both of us undecided and alone
Wishing to alleviate responsibility.
The umbilical cord has been
cut, both of us fear the separation
the one decision after the other.
We want to rock back and forth
back and forth
back and forth
Forth.
