Attempting sunrise

The rays yawned over morning dew
stretched golden arms westward
forced the grass to exhale a rolling
mist
cloaking the trunk of a Great Oak
and a blinded rabbit's sky
Darkness swallowed hard outside
my window
there it salivated for my only light to dim.
Sunrise ignored the night
when they'd passed on the
twilight horizon
hastily headed for the zenith
where before long
the shadows below would
fade and be erased
Yet I lay waiting
fixated on the walls
bulging eyes willing helpers
to sweep away
the dawn
from the corners
still needing persuading
a new day had begun

A wonderfully crafted poem,
A wonderfully crafted poem, hoalarg, right from that first, inspired line, through to the personification of darkness, etc.
As with much of your work, atmospheric, and compelling.
Much enjoyed.
