summer

It's as if the past had never been
and I was born to this
the winds that brought me, a mere dream
That which cupped my eyes mid-winter
as suns, heavier than ever, struggled for treelines -
returns now to me
And the bareness of the branches I clung to
the rock frosted soil on which I walked
kept me digging for the seeds
Snowdrops, daffodils, you'll never know
when stars have folded and fail as guides,
your own true strength, baring heads to nod the way
Is this the same land I knew back then
draped in the finest colour, still wet from its design?
Great armies shouldering roots I once lost.
