The Elves' Workshop

One night, I had a very odd dream.
In my dream, I was in my bed asleep, and I woke up. I was still in my bed, but I wasn’t in my bedroom. I was outside, where it had snowed. There were elves all wandering around. They all looked like children. One of them looked like he could’ve been a six year old child. There was a tall elf. He was small, but he was taller than all the others. He came over to my bed, and beckoned me out of my bed. I did so, and noticed that instead of my teddy bear pyjamas that I usually wear to bed, I was wearing an outfit like what the elves were wearing. A green hat perched on top of my head, a Santa suit which was green, and long shoes, which were also green.
The elves led me to an igloo, where they all went inside. There were at least twenty of them, and me as well, and I wondered how we all fit inside the igloo, but fit we did.
The taller elf tapped the wall, and the ground started to move downwards, like an elevator.
As we were moving downwards, I looked all around me. We were moving slowly, so I was able to see. There were photos of elves hanging up, as well as a large photo of Santa, adorned by gold frames. There were tinsel lining the walls, all different colours, red, gold, blue, purple. There was a Christmas Star at one point, which dazzled silver, and nearly blinded me. It all looked very pretty.
Eventually we stopped, and I followed the elves into a large room. There were other elves there. Some were stood up, some sat down. Some were running here and there. But one thing was clear. They were all making toys for children for Christmas.
The room looked really beautiful, much like the igloo elevator I just came from. It was also decorated with photos of elves, tinsel, and Christmas Stars that dazzled silver all over the place. But there were snowmen as well, and fairies and angels. And a very large Christmas Tree in the middle. It was decorated with tinsel, stars, snowmen, plastic Christmas puddings, and chocolate money. But at the top of the tree sat a very real looking Santa which winked at me.
Hang on. Winked? That Santa was a plastic Santa, wasn’t it?
I blinked and the tree had disappeared. Now Santa was stood where the tree had been. I felt myself compelled to walk over to him. He smiled at me, and dug his hand into his pocket, and pulled out a small box, covered in gold wrapping paper, that had silver stars all over it. Santa handed me the box, and waved his head over towards a door. I followed him over, and it turned out to be a bedroom, big and as prettily decorated as the elves’ workshop. There was a bed in the middle, a four poster bed, the quilt, sheet and pillow all with pictures of Santa and his elves on. Santa left me in the room on my own. I suddenly found I was still quite tired, so I gratefully sunk into the bed and fell asleep…
The next morning, I was almost disappointed to wake up in my boring, dreary bedroom, with it’s shabby yellow walls. The dream was so wonderful, so real and so lovely, that I wished it had been real.
I decided to get up. I sat up and stretched. When I put my arms back down, I put my hand in my pocket, and felt something in there. That was odd, I didn’t remember having anything in there, before I went to bed the night before. I pulled it out.
It was a box, wrapped in golden wrapping paper with silver stars all over it. I opened it up. Inside was a golden bracelet with charms. One was Santa, one was a elf, one was a snowman, and one was a Christmas Tree. I put it on, wondering where it came from. Maybe Mum had slipped it in while I was sleeping. Then I noticed there was a note:
Hello Molly,
Hope you enjoyed your visit to the North Pole, and we hope you enjoy your bracelet we made for you.
Merry Christmas!!!
