Turkey Flees

Farmer Brown and family were in turmoil. On the day before Thanksgiving, Farmer Brown couldn't find the turkey. He searched in the barnyard. He searched in the barn. He surveyed the duck pond. He looked all around.
"Father! Father!" cried daughter Nicole. "Look what I've found!"
It was a note. And it was from the turkey.
Dear Farmer Brown,
Since I am a turkey, and unable to write, I am dictating this letter to Pig. I must say, Brown, you had me fooled with your generosity. I was fat, happy and content. That is, until Pig made me wise to your selfish motives. Shame on you, sir! As you read this I will be flying south with Mr. Duck and his family. They were kind enough to offer me a ride. And, unlike your acts of kindness, sir, theirs were genuine. Enjoy your roast without me, Brown.
Sincerely,
Turkey
P.S. Keep your wits about you, Brown. The barnyard has its eye on you.
It was devastating news. And immediately upon reading the letter the atmosphere around the barnyard became chilling to the marrow.
The Brown family ran for their lives as the barnyard filled with a deafening murmur from its inhabitants.
The Brown's spent several days in the root cellar dining on peach preserves.
The barnyard creatures boarded up the Brown house and went to Nantucket for a holiday.
Turkey fell asleep on a beach in Miami and was burnt to a crisp.
