"Yes! Yes I'm coming! Uh-huh. I'm in the process of it. WHY do YOU think I'm never prepared?! You've known me for 69 years and you think I'm always late? Well ummm... how about that time that... uhhh... that... about 30 years ago when I was the first one there. Really? Oh right, that was my first day. Yeah, you told me I'd be out if I showed up late. Well what about... OK, you know what? Never mind. I'll be there ASAP. (God, I really need that memory upgrade)
He rushed to and fro trying to gather as much as he could. At 279 years old, he looked younger than his age suggested. He was always a bit of a slacker and unlike most people his age, he was quite optimistic about life in general. This singular trait had won him over a number of friends and undoubtedly created a few enemies, not that it mattered.
Nogoii finally finished packing his things and just to make sure, looked around for anything else. Disorganized is an understatement. Everything was everywhere. In fact, his room was the closest thing to a "perfect chaos" as one could find. It wasn't just the room either; it spread itself throughout his apartment. One could see this perfectly fine, considering how brightly lit everything was.
He was satisfied that he had everything he needed and put the hammerchip into the inside pocket of his vest. He also wore shorts and sandals both of a reddish tinge; the vest was black.
Anyways, he carefully stepped over stuff not knowing what was underneath the papers, and he got to that heavy, wooden door. He pushed his way out into the stone hallway lit by a strange organic light seemingly emanating from the walls. He paid no attention as he started for the near end of the hall. A few steps away from the door he realized he was going the wrong way and pivoted on one foot towards the other end.
He pushed open the door to reveal an anti-grav chamber As soon as he stepped through, he floated gently upwards, slower than he expected. The enamel tower was enamored by the glow of the two suns behind it; the bone-like structure let in innumerable little pinpricks of light as well as a clear wall lighting up the ledges in front of him.
He let himself float near to the top before grabbing a ledge and flipping himself onto it's ceiling. He ran a short way before encountering a set of doors which would only let organisms through due to a series of recent incidents caused by artificial beings. Getting past the doors, he found himself in a non-gravity lock where he walked down the wall to the floor.
He looked upon another stone hallway curving ever so slightly and it was just long enough for him not to see the end. He started running, he had to hurry or they would leave without him. Rushing past door after door, he finally got to the other end, he approached the double doors slowly and phased through them.
Inside was a lineup at the demoleculizer. Nogoii cursed under his breath, this was going to cost him time. He pushed himself towards the front amid Heys! and What thes?! to the bright , white pad and willed himself to the launching station.
He reappeared at a check-in. "Hello, my name is Nogoii Nrectu, I'm supposed to be boarding the Tamarat at 25:30." The receptionist blinked and said "Mmhmm, go right ahead" sounding quite disinterested. Hurrying past the receptionist's desk he found himself in a large, hangar-like room. He felt slightly overwhelmed as he walked by craft after craft trying to find the one he had to get on. Becoming confused, he asked someone where it was. "Follow me" the machine said in a gruff voice as he lead Nagoii to a door hidden behind a large galactic transporter. It was in the side of the building and it led outside. "Golly, hope it isn't too far" Nogoii said. "Me neither" the contraption exclaimed before shoving Nogoii out and slamming the door behind him.
Outside was a desert with sand brushing over him as he ran towards the topographic vessel. Overhead, the two suns shined, one of them casting gigantic shadows that always moved. This was due to a gyroscopic turbine which encircled Sun A that through rotational energy, somehow powered the planet.
He stepped into the small craft and trying to take in a breath, walked into the lounge area where his coworkers greeted him warmly. He didn't answer, instead just collapsing onto a seat somewhere in the back. "We leave in a few minutes, after I'm done checking a few things" said Professor Yevyete, the head of the team.
Nogoii usually doesn't wake up this early so he was still too tired to really do anything. "I'm not going to get much sleep tonight" he thought as he adjusted his own melanin levels so he could be wide awake for the next half-hour. Then he could sleep to his heart's content. He needed to know where they were going, if he slept now he would miss what was going on.
"Margive." "Here." Urotu" "Here." "Nrectu." "I'm here!" "Biferaca." "Yup!" "Qanap." "Uh-huh." "Fwigh." "Yeah." "Ioc." "Here." "Rucca." "Mm-hmm." "Cos." "Yeah." "Maanroin." "Yep. I'm here!" "Ardaka." ""snort" Sure." "Alright, everyone is here. We can go!" he yelled into the cockpit.
