THE LITTLE BIRD

I awoke from a long night of deep, dark slumber. The sun was shining as it rose in the east, with the first rays of sunshine falling on the grass. I sat at my backdoor and wondered what the day would bring; good or bad? Just then a little bird landed beneath the tree, and started twittering playfully on the lawn; ‘I’m Happy! Are You Too! You Too!’ He tweeted up at me where I was sitting. I smiled to myself at this divine little messenger of nature and said; ‘I Guess So.’ ‘I’m Happy! Be Too! Be Too!’ replied the little fellow joyfully again, and then suddenly he flew away into the distance among the trees and the shrubs singing 'Be Happy! Don't Be Blue! Be Blue!' My day had started with a good omen, and this made me happy, for the promise of a good day ahead. And the little bird flew on and spread his good news far and wide for all to see and hear.
