The Sly Chameleon

There was once a sly chameleon who lived on a farm. There was always plenty of food around, because there were plenty of animals, and where there was animals around, there was bound to be plenty of flies. A little piglet wandered by with three delicious flies hovering about him. They were a bit of nuisance, but apart from that, they didn’t bother him much. He was used to flies about his person, being a pig. He went and lay down for while under a bush and forgot about them as he took a short nap. The chameleon approached him with slow, sly and purposeful strides, first turning the yellow of the grass, and then the grey of stone as he started to ambush the three flies flying over the piglet. He zapped one with his tongue while the little pig slept, then another, then the last one. He licked his lips at his lovely meal, and then retreated quickly back into the bush, turning the green of the leaves thereof, and silently disappeared from the scene. The piglet awoke, sensing that something was amiss, and noticed no flies about. He wondered what had happened to them. Had some thief stolen them? It must have been a sly thief indeed! He just shrugged his shoulders and trotted away happily. He’ll be collecting new flies soon enough.
