Election Time

Election time looms large, hope for the masses
Masses implode with fear for their country
Country teems with hysteria as polling begins
Begins as people drive to work
Work bubbles over with talk of change
Change to unite constituencies against racism
Racism not anti-immigration
Anti-immigration not fascism
Fascism not the privileged
Privileged face the masses and vote
Vote to tilt the balance, time goes round
Round to six as people arrive home
Home tired from working long hours
Hours spent trying to be productive
Productive masses' moods swing left
Left for the Lib Dems, left for Green
Green to protect their children's planet
Planet creaking under weight of Tory intent
Intent to improve the economy, Tories stake claims
Claims to run things better than before
Before the support was never there
There comes the result at last
Last place to Green, first to the Tories
Tories first-past-the-post while everyone
Everyone else wishes voting was Proportional
Proportional meaning fair, a fairer count
Count counts out Lib Dems and UKIP, Greens
Greens, Lib Dems and UKIP go limping back
Back to the drawing board as SNP shine
Shine for a country united in its belief
Belief never a problem for Cameron
Cameron convinced this nation can move forward
Forward through disaster and back to its feet
Feet taking the public to vote the same as always
Always New Labour, always the Conservatives
Conservatives this nation all, minimal imagination
Imagination a priviledge to those who have time
Time to rethink the strategy as the Tories win
Win by a majority, change the voting system
System problem asks questions of them
Them who chose to vote centre-right
Centre-right UKIP, Tory, New Labour or Lib Dem.
