The steady shedding of the sky of its clouds

Hope abounds, swirls in the diluted darkness,
In the steady shedding of the sky of its clouds,
In the dipping horizon, emotion departs, leaving nothing.
I await you no more, hope not for answer,
As clouds drift away, I await the next storm,
Which is as certain as happiness
And uncertain as heaven.
I burrow my way home along the well-trampled path,
Thoughts already turning to tomorrow, a black hole
But as certain of the steady shedding of the sky of its clouds
Is the fact that you will no longer feature in it.
And yet hope abounds, and the lessening darkness
And vanishing stars require that I wake,
That I stretch myself free of tiredness and sorrow,
In faith of the steady shedding of the sky of its clouds.
