Badger update

I am back from my American trip, and will probably write up my adventures bit by bit, but first thought I should bring you up to date with Billy Badger in my garden.
There was no information from my councillor while I was gone, so I assume he did nothing. I did have an email back from the Badger Society telling me that my grandkids are not in any danger, and they should be reminded to wash their hands after playing in the garden.
My daughter decided that the plant pot should come out of where it is blocking the badger's den,
so she took it out, and the hole collapsed a bit, but she felt that was the right thing to do. She then took the soil from a plant pot and put it in front of the hole so that if he came in or out, we would foot prints. She also decided the big hole doesn't go under the road, but takes a turn to the right, effectively going under the edge of my property. She also thinks there is a hole in the hedge where he might get in and out. She thinks the main use of the hole was to supply building material for the
nest that he built, but that he has probably abandoned it now, and if it is apparent that he hasn't used it for a month or two, we should be able to fill in the hole. So I guess I am happier now that that is all in place. She took lots of photos to send to her friends, who are wilderness lovers, and I am to take pictures of any changes that I spot and send them on to her.

There is something so wistful
There is something so wistful here; a sense of surrender and the end of an episode.

Yes a slight feeling of
Yes a slight feeling of regret, but I suppose you still have to wait a while before you know for certain that he is gone.

It sounds as if it maybe an
It sounds as if it maybe an unsed entrance/exit, or a one-off that never got used, or a small temporary 'latrine'??? You haven't found any evidence of them having been around your garden at night have you? Rhiannon

I hope you'll let us know of
I hope you'll let us know of any further developments, Jean. I was thinking of you the other day - my son is playing Mr Toad in a production of Wind In The Willows, and I was telling him about the real life Mr Badger!
