PREVARICATION.

To tell a lie is still a sin no matter what disguise it's in.
A terminalogical inexactitude; a lapse of moral turpitude,
a fact dissembled, realigned, is actuality maligned.
Basic truths misrepresented, words with meanings re-invented.
What you hear's not what you see and what's been said's hypocrisy.
Obversion, that's now called spin, so stealthily that filtered in.
Evasive actions, cunning phrases, this all constantly amazes
Ordinary folk like me,
So, if nations speak with malintent, dissemble words, misrepresent
their real intentions to each other, say one thing and do another.
Create a truth to serve their ends, and do not care how far it bends.
Where lies truth? And does it matter? Is it fact or simply chatter?
Consider this and cogitate. When all around prevaricate
will anybody ever know, who really is their friend or foe?
So, should we heed? And should we follow? Those who mislead
Ordinary folk like me.
But ordinary people, folk like me, have the last word ultimately.
We will be told, we will be lead, by those who's heart's conjoined with head.
We'll not be lied to, lead astray. Say what you mean, mean what you say.
Stand up, be counted when you're wrong. Disapprobation doesn't last that long.
Then, when next you ask for re-election, you will realise upon reflection
that at last you're now respected, certain to be re-elected.
And you'll have learned from history, that precious thing, democracy, belongs to
Ordinary folk…like me!
