TOBY’S LAMENT

I don’t want to go to Miss Coopers,
I really don’t want to go.
I’ve screamed, yelled and jumped up and down
but, it seems, you just don’t want to know.
BUT YOU WILL!
I don’t need to go to Miss Coopers.
I don’t need to go any more.
I’m telling you now I won’t like it to-day
any more than I liked it before.
AND YOU WON’T CHANGE MY MIND.
I’m gonna keep moaning about it.
I’ll shout ‘til I’m red in the face.
I’ll never give in, well not ‘til you’ve been
home and come back to this place.
TO TAKE ME HOME.
After Grandad went off and left me
and went home to play with the others,
two more boys and a girl came in
and they all screamed at their mothers.
SO I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE.
I hate all the children who go there.
I don’t want to play any games.
I don’t wat to do jig-saw puzzles.
I won’t learn the animals names.
I WON’T DO ANYTHING.
I don’t’t think much of their train set.
Their Lego is terrible too.
I don’t like a single thing in there,
So really there’s not much to do.
SO THERE’S NO POINT IN GOING IS THERE?
I don’t want to play with their Dollies.
No! I don’t want to play with the paint.
I won’t sit down at the table
And whatever you’re doing I ain’t.
AND YOU CAN’T MAKE ME.
I’d rather go to the Castle.
I’d rather play on the swings,
There’s lots of things I’d rather be doing,
In fact, I’d rather do anything.
THAN GO TO MISS COOPERS.
My Grandma comes to my rescue.
My Mum does and sometimes my Dad.
But on the days when I go to Miss Coopers
I’d rather not see my Grandad.
WELL IT’S HIS OWN FAULT.
I blame all this on my Grandad.
It’s him that drags me in there.
He says I’ll love it, but I know I won’t
‘cos Miss Cooper doesn’t play fair.
SHE MAKES ME DO AS I’M TOLD.
You all know when I’ve been to Miss Coopers.
You can tell by the tears on my cheek.
So, I’m telling you now, if you think you have won.
Just you wait 'til next week.
‘COS I’M NOT GOING AGAIN
I enjoyed it to-day at Miss Coopers.
I offered to stay until four,
but the others had been so awful to-day
that they just couldn’t take any more.
SO THEY ALL WENT HOME- - - SO DID I.
