It did not matter, the impossibilities of the situation, the hopelessness, the futile wishes none of it.
If the mere barest trace of possibilty made him feel so much more alive than when he was actually alive he would persue it regardless.
She was walking her dog again , he watched her on the hill from her bedroom window. She swung her arms freely by her sides and turned her face constantly upwards towards the sun. Her dog dashed about earning his name, diving into ditches and wagging his tail incessantly, she watched him fondly laughing at him. Hodge felt flooded with warmth at the sight of her she was radiant actually radiant like the sunlight she basked in, he sighed content.
He had finally decided to be reckless, he wanted to speak to her. Obviously as a spirit that lurked in her bedroom this posed a bit of a problem. He flickered into her front room, standing over her laptop, this had worked before, she had not freaked out totally last time maybe there was potential here.
Amelia stared at the screen, her heart was pounding so hard it was almost unbalancing her. She slowly sat down behind her laptop and began to read..
To the angry/beautiful/radiant resident of this charming cottage,
My name is Hodge , I have been visiting you for the past couple of weeks. You saw me through the window, I left the note on your mirror and the refilling of your dog's food bowl was also me, although that one does not sound very charming. Not that any of this would sound at all charming. I hope I am not alarming you, I do not mean to. If you wish me to leave, I will of course go. I wish you no harm this is probably sounding very creepy and awful, however I want to speak to you . I do not know how to tell you I am a ghost without it sounding creepy!
But I am also just a man who once lived here many many many years ago.
My life was dark, my afterlife is grey, and you are so very very BRIGHT.
Hodge
Hodge watched her face intently as she read, her finger shook as she scrolled the mouse down the page. Her cheeks were very flushed, when her eyes read the last line she smiled, a breathtaking smile and raised her eyes from the screen.
"Hello Hodge" she whispered.
