BEST OF FRIENDS
A summer’s day, a gentle breeze
We sit at ease.
We watch a lark high in the sky
My friend and I
A stately heron by the brook
We sit and look.
A dragon fly, translucent blue
flits into view
sheep grazing on a distant hill
And all is still.
And all is quiet tranquillity
In harmony
We do not speak. We have no need
That’s peace indeed.
In heaven the sun is sinking low
It’s time to go.
He trusts me that I will not fail
He wags his tail

This is lovely. Form and words bring the peaceful occasion to mind and feelings. (and the ending a surprise!) Rhiannon

Hi, Rhiannon recommended me
Hi,
Rhiannon recommended me too as she knows I am a dog lover.
What a lovely poem this is. You have captured that intimacy between a dog and its handler so accurately yet the ending was a surprise.
'And all is quite tranquillity' I want to read as
'And all is quiet tranquillity'
Still nothing detracts from this lovely piece.
