A last minute resolution

“What’s wrong?” asked Mick.
“I’m, just thinking about my New Year’s resolution, that’s all,” replied Oscar.
“I know it’s tough, thinking about what you want to do next year. I haven’t come up with mine yet.”
“I’m not talking about next year. I mean this year’s resolution. I still haven’t completed it.”
“But it’s New Year’s Eve…”
“Which is exactly why I should be worrying about it. I don’t want to go the whole year without having completed it,” groaned Oscar.
“Well you’ve got about five minutes now. So what is this resolution anyway? You never mentioned it throughout the whole year,” said Mick.
“My resolution was to organise something as I wanted to take more initiative in life. I always rely on others to make plans you see. However I’ve been busy all year with my job, so I haven’t been able to fulfil my resolution yet.”
“You organised tonight’s event.”
“No I didn’t,” said Oscar.
“You did. When you were drunk last night, you decided to get everyone together tonight. Hence the odd meeting place in a horse stable, but I always believe in carrying out promises. Drunk or not.”
“Wow. I didn’t realise that. So I’ve finally done my resolution. That’s great, even if it was not the way I wanted to carry it out. Now I can relax.”
“What about next year’s resolution?” asked Mick.
“I haven’t thought about it. I’m sure I’ll figure it out some time before next New Year’s eve,” replied Oscar.
