The Crew's Last Meal

His name was Jaycee and he was preparing dinner for the rest of the gang. It was a tradition that they did every week. Time to talk about their business and prepare for the following week. The big wooden oblong table was laid and he counted out the places. Good, all done.
He sat down. He had a few minutes before they would start to arrive. But something was on his mind.
They were loyal, good boys, he was sure of that. But someone was talking, someone was a grass. The authorities knew things, things they shouldn’t know, things that could only come from one of his crew. Tonight he would find out who it was.
There was a knock at the door. He opened it. There they were, his boys, all smiles, all handshakes and man hugs. He loved them all like brothers, but one of them was talking. He didn't know who or understand why.
They found their places at the table and begun to eat and drink. The conversation flowed as quickly as the wine. No one was giving anything away. After they were full, Jaycee stood up to speak.
“Guys, great to see you all tonight. It’s been a blast. But I’ve got a bad feeling. I’ve got a feeling inside that I can’t shake off.”
Pete, his number two, looked at him.
“What exactly are you saying Jay?”
“I’m saying that we’ve got a grass amongst us. Someone's talking.”
Pete shook his head.
“Bollocks. We’re a thick crew. Thick as blood man. No way.”
Jaycee slammed his fist down hard on the table.
“I’m telling you. We have a grass. Right here, right now.”
He didn’t say anymore. The house door was kicked in and six armed police stood before them. A voice shouted out.
“Don’t any of you move. Stay where you are and where we can see your hands.”
A Policeman in a long white coat walked over to Jaycee and smiled.
“Jaycee, I’m arresting you for fraud and deception. You do not have to say anything…”
He heard his rights being read and looked over at his crew, one by one. They all were looking at him apart from one. One of his boys was looking at the floor. He looked embarrassed, ashamed. Jaycee looked at him and shook his head.
“Of all people it had to be you, Jude.”
As he was being led away. Pete shouted after him.
“Don’t worry Jaycee; we’ll have you out in no time.”
Jaycee knew the truth and shouted back.
“What, with my previous? They’re gonna fucking crucify me!”
