Hello Mum,
Happy Birthday for last month. Sorry didn't send a card, you know what its like, we're all so very busy. Anyway, Happy 70th.
Was going to get you some flowers sent over, but couldn't decide what you would like, I know you don't like Roses or is it Dafs? Anyway, I'll bring some next time we come to visit.
Hows Dad? I heard he'd had a fall, something to do with his knee? I'm sure your doting on him hand and foot, like you always do.
Keep meaning to give you a ring but theres a problem with our phone at home and the mobiles always playing up, so thought I'd send you a nice letter. Much better than nattering away on a bloody telephone anyway.
Your Grandson Stevie is 18 next week and wants a new car! Kids eh! They want the world don't they. They just don't understand how much things cost these days.
The car he's seen is seven thousand pounds for gods sake. Where on earth does he think we're going to get that kind of money from?
So I was just wondering, as its his 18th, I know you were going to get him something nice anyway, whether you'd like to contribute. He'd really love it!
If we go almost half each? We can put in two thousand and maybe you could put up the rest. Thanks Mum, you've got our Bank details haven't you.
Anyway, got to fly, got a bloody yoga lesson in half an hour.
Shame you don't live closer or we'd always be round to see you, but its a good 20 minutes by car and you know what its like with all that traffic!
Thanks Mum.
Joan.

I echo Moya from the last
I echo Moya from the last letter, I really love these. They're hard hitting and need no explanation. The beauty of them is to keep them subtle and the 'message' will still smack you in the gob. Hope there's more to come.
