Julian asks about Storks

"Mum, what do Storks look like?"
"Storks, why?"

The cheerios could have been a mistake this morning.

"Cos Maisie in my class at school has just got a new sister and she said a Stork brought it"

Ah, how sweet, I can just imagine little Maisie saying that.Better be carefull though, I have already told him that babies grow in ladies tummies so will have to tread carefully. Don't want him arguing with little Maisie.

"They are a big white bird with a very large beak"
"Like seagulls?"
"No bigger than seagulls"
"Swans?"
"Bigger than Swans"
"Albatrosses?"

Where the hell did he learn about bloody Albatrosses!

"Er yes a bit like Albatrosses, when you've finished your breakfast we'll have a look on the computer and I'll show you a picture of a Stork"

That should do it.

"And the Storks bring babies?"
"Sometimes they do, yes"
"Was I brought by a Stork?"

Ok, I see where this is going, there is a photo on the table of me coming out of Hospital with him, he'll want to know where the Stork is.

"No, Daddy brought you and me home in the car"

Well done.

"So Storks only bring home the babies when there is no car available?"
"Yes, thats it exactly"

Think I did quite well there.

"Where do they live?"
"Who?"
"The Storks, do they live at the Hospital?"
"Yes, there is a special place for them at the back of the Hospital"

I could be in trouble here.

"How do they know where to deliver them to?"
"The Nurses tell them"
"So they can talk and read and everything?"
"Er Yes, I think so"
"Do they have Sat Nav like Daddy does, so he always knows where he's going?"

Bugger, bugger, bugger. Ok go for it, I'm way out of my depth here!. I can't believe I'm about to say this but....

"Yes the Storks are like Albatrosses they deliver babies for people who don't have cars, they live at the Hospital and they can read and write and talk. They also have built in Sat Nav just like Daddy does in his car"
"Fantastic and everyone in my class said that Maisie was being stupid!"

"Eat your breakfast or you'll be late for school"

He's never ever ever having cheerios again!
