Julian asks about Water

What a beautiful morning, a lovely spring morning, just given him Shreddies, no sugar just milk, they were OK last time.

"Mum, where does our water come from?"

Thats easy, he's just being curious.

"Tesco darling we buy our water at Tesco"

"Tesco? are they running out then?"

"Don't think so darling, why?"

"Because on the Television they just said that there is a water shortage and we should be careful"

Silly me, thought he meant bottled water.

"No sweetheart, we buy our bottled water from Tesco, it's the tap water that's running out so we all have to be careful with it"

Well done me, explained that spot on.

"Tap water is running out, when?"

"Soon"

"When, today, tommorow, when?"

Damn, maybe not as well expalined as I thought.

"Not that quickly, it's just that we haven't had a lot of rain recently and that's what becomes tap water"

That's better.

"But you and Daddy are always complaining that it's raining"

He's right.

"But not enough, we need a lot of rain so that the rivers fill up and then we will have enough tap water"

Brilliant, that's done it.

"We drink River water and Rain water, won't we get ill?

"No, it gets purified, that means we clean it first then it comes through the tap"

"What with?"

"What?"

"What with, what do we clean it with, I've never seen you or Daddy cleaning it?"

"No, No, No, we don't clean it, a big company cleans it with chemicals"

"Chemicals, what sort of chemicals, you always said that chemicals were bad for me!"

Fuck, he's got me again!

"No these are good chemicals that make the water nice and clean for you and me to drink"

That should do it.

"So we drink River water and Rain water that some big company clean with nice chemicals and there isn't enough of it?"

At last he's got it.

"Yes Darling, that's it exactly"

"Why don't the big company just buy it from Tesco, they've got lots of it"

"It's not the same!"

"Why not?"

OK, calm down, it's only 08.20 lets not start this lovely day in a stressfull situation.

"No, sweetheart, bottle water is different it comes from natural springs in the ground, it's pure and there's a lot of it"

That's it all put to bed now.

"If there's a lot of it why is the big company using dirty River and Rain water, why aren't they using this Spring Water, no need for nice chemicals then is there!"

He's right, I've got nowhere to go now.

"Good idea, I'll give them a call and let them know, now eat your breakfast or you'll be late for school"
