My Mortal Love.

I hear her breath. Slow and distant.
My whole being wants to feel that heat on my skin.
I move closer. My hand touches flesh
She moves backwards towards me.
Our bodies form a curve, so intricate
So perfect, that we could be, just one.
I recognise the smell. Her smell.
And I want to bathe myself in it untilI I drown.
My hand strokes her hair, she does
That shoulder shrug of ecstasy that I remember so well
Her head turns to face mine. Eyes still closed
She whispers my name.
I cradle her and gently kiss her neck.
My hands touch her most intimate parts
She groans. Makes those little whimpering noises
That only she can. I whisper. “ I Love You.”
She smiles, eyes still closed, she knows
That I’m here. Back where I belong.
We stay in that warm embrace for hours.
Till the sun takes away the darkness and
The curtains can no longer hold back the light.
I tell her once again that I’m here. Forever.
She opens her eyes. Eyes now full of tears.
She looks at my photo and I’m gone.

Hello JOe,
Hello JOe,
A poem that shows your soft side Joe, it is full of tenderness and love and the poignancy that goes with loss.
Beautiful!

Absolutely beautiful, Jolono. Your words are velvet, they just flow. Its ending was very unexpected - that gaping void.
