I’m still waiting for the fanfare
And the drums
For the banners and the sparklers
For the road signs
And the markers
Still waiting for the pricking of my thumbs

I’m still waiting for the bugles
And the bells
For that raucous benediction
That will justify my fiction

So much time is wasted
