You said you would always be there
but of course you would always care.

I thought you would stand beside me
through thick and thin we did agree.

But at the first chance you split
your loyalty was a counterfeit.

I realize now I never belonged
it is easy to say we were wronged.

I hope you enjoyed your freedom
now you're locked out my kingdom.

I never knew what I would do
with independence from you.

But now they will all clearly see
just how very different we can be.

I hope you find your happiness
I could never hope for any less.

It does doesn't it and also "letting go" comes to mind, something very hard for some to achieve. It definately shows a transformation. I couldn't help but to try one IP, even in the middle of the night. :)

I enjoyed this work.  Any writing that comes from the heart usually carries powerful meaning.  One of my first poems was written to express thoughts that lay hidden in my mind.

I hope you write many more.

Thank you, I completely agree as well that some of the most moving writing comes straight from the heart. I recently found love poems I had wrote when I had first met my husband. I loved getting to read them to him and I'm so glad they resurfaced from all the clutter that is my "notebook collection". I also like when a peice of writing is adaptable like this one cause it is not ment just for "lovers" which is what most people would probably think at first, but for any relationship that "smothers" or "constricts" you.
